Vigs Big Minnows

Well, by popular demand and public outcry, we are bringing you flies that ARE NOT featherwings!  These are my floating minnows, and no, I'm not claiming to have originated this fly.  What I will claim is this:  I have NEVER seen a floating minnow tied this way or in these colors.  I learned to tie this pattern from someone who had their own foam floating minnow pattern that was based on the pro quill fly.  My fly is tied differently than that one and in many other colors.
These minnows are an absolute must for waters like the West Branch, Roach, East Outlet, Kennebec, Moose, Rangeley River, Upper Dam, Rapid, Kennebago and Magalloway.  In turbulent water, falls, below dams, in eddies, etc., these minnows will induce some of the most vicious and hilarious strikes you can imagine.  Fish will hit these every way imaginable from jumping out of the water and onto them as they dead drift along, to slashing at them repeatedly as you strip them back as fast as you can.  They can also be fished very effectively at night slowly stripped back at places like Shawmut and the Presumpscot, where I've take MONSTER browns on them.
I tie these in 2 sizes:  9672 #2 which is about 1 1/4" long from head to rump and a R79-94720 #2, which is about 2" long from head to rump.
These patterns are responsible for some of the biggest salmon and bass I've ever taken.   I've caught every species of fish imaginable on these from trout to bass, pickerel to perch, stripers to shad.   Anything that eats a minnow, anything that you can catch on a Rapala will hit these too.  Pick up one or two and give them a try, I personally guarantee you wont be disappointed.
We coat these flies with the same liquid plastic resin we use on our streamers making them incredibly durable.  I've taken dozens of salmon on one fly before the mylar has been affected.  These flies are tied to last, period.  Also, unlike some, we do not paint on our eyes.  They are holographic dome eyes that are glued on and then coated over.  They give the fly incredible realism  and also help it float without rolling over.
Below are just a few colors we offer.  We do any and all colors in solid and "back only", which is the top half only, and we can do special request colors too. Our color selection is currently yellow, chartreuse, orange, lime, green, fuchsia, red, pink, light blue, royal blue, turquoise, purple, brown and black.  Just send us an email and let us know what you want.  Prices for solid or half colors are the same, even special order solid and half colors.  We can also mix and match special order colors for you to make your own patterns.  Mix and match colors are subject to a price increase.
