Super  StreamersTM

The "Super Streamer"TM term is a name we have dubbed to our flies. When you buy a fly from most fly shops you catch that first fish on it and usually the floss and/or tinsel is unraveling instantly. Well our flies won't do that. On the contrary, our flies usually last 12-30 fish! That's right, 12-30 fish on one fly before its body starts to unravel is normal. All of our floss and tinsel body flies are coated with a liquid plastic resin that once dry becomes crystal clear and hard as plastic. The number of fish a fly lasts for usually depends on the size and species of fish it's catching, along with some consideration put on the fishing conditions. Some may last much longer than 30 fish where as others may only last for a half dozen or so. The point is, why should you spend two, three or even four dollars on a fly that will only last for two or three fish if you're lucky when you could buy from us and know you're getting your moneys worth.

Below are two Gray Ghost's that were tied and coated at the same time, and fished within a month of each other. Now please realize this is no guarantee that the flies you buy from us will last to catch that many fish, it is just a demonstration for you to see how long they can potentially last. It also shows how much of a difference the species you are catching will have on the fly. As we stated previously, longevity will depend on fishing conditions along with the species being targeted and their size as well.

The Gray Ghost below caught 47 Landlocked Salmon all between 12 and 17 ½ inches during a period of 4 days. Most of the fish were 14 to 16 inches. Take notice of the bend in the shank of the hook, it's actually a break but the floss has held together so well it holds the hook together. I stopped using the fly when the hook broke, but it was catching fish up until that point. Also look at the feathers, most of which have been chewed off.

This Gray Ghost caught 34 fish:  27 Brook Trout between 13 and 16 inches, 6 Brown Trout that were all around 16 inches, and one 15 inch Landlocked Salmon. Besides the condition of the feathers the body looks almost as good as new. If you look closely you can see a gray hue to the body where the coating is just starting to come loose, especially on the tag area where the coating is just starting to come off. I know this fly would continue to catch fish if I fished it tomorrow but I wanted a good example of just how long the bodies can last and I thought this was the perfect one. In comparing it to the one above it is a prime example of the effects different fish will have on the fly.
