Tying Materials

We here at VIGS BIG FLIES want to provide our customers with not only the finest featherwing streamers they can buy, but also with the finest materials to tie them with as well. We make it easy to purchase from us by offering materials in numerous quantities so you don't have to buy items by the individual or the gross, but instead you dictate the quantities you want. We sell hooks by the 25, 50 and 100 pack. Peacock swords by the individual, 5 and 10 pack. Guinea and pheasant feathers by the pack or the skin. Its up to you and your needs. Contact us for specific materials as if we dont have it, we can probably get it.

We're your one stop shop for all the material you'll need to fashion your very own featherwing streamer patterns and then some, including some of the following companies we HIGHLY recommend and use exclusively:

- Ewing Hackle ( used on 90% of our flies )

- French tinsel, mylar and floss from UNI

- Tinsel, wire and silk from Lagartun

- Mustad, Daiichi and Gaelic Supreme Hooks

- Griffin Vises ( the ONLY vise we will tie on )

We also carry a number of hard to find items in natural and dyed colors such as:

- Venery ( Reeves ), Silver, Amherst and Golden pheasant skins, tails, crests and feathers in natural & dyed

- Full peacock eye & sword sticks ( also available in bleached & dyed and stick dyed )

- Closed cell foam for our floating minnows

- Mylar tubing in pearl, holographic, glow and various colors

We dye a lot of our own materials like peacock swords and eye sticks, guinea, silver pheasant and turkey to bring you materials you've probably never seen and probably wont see anywhere else that will help you create your very own unique streamers and other flies. Just send us an email in regards what you're looking for and we will be glad to help you. We might charge a small fee to the list price to offset the cost and time it takes us to dyed our materials. Everything is done as ordered (but we do have a lot of items done and available usually), so please take that into account as well. Email us for more information.

We will not sell any material that we personally wouldnt use on our own flies and some material may be of a high enough quality to use on display flies.

We carry a wide variety of materials and tools so if youre looking for something specific, dont hesitate to email us, and we're sorry, most materials cant be shipped out of the U.S.A.
