Herb Johnson Conversion

I tied this pattern around 1992 which was one of the first patterns I converted to a featherwing. The original “Herb Johnson Special” is an Atlantic salmon, ll salmon & brookie fly that was designed and tied by Herb Johnson of Yarmouth, Maine around 1960 for fishing the Royal River for Atlantics and Sea Run Browns. I've actually taken nice fish of both species on that particular river, along with many other species in other rivers on this conversion pattern which does resmeble a smelt when wet.
