This is a Hooded Merganser Drake carved from high density tan cork with a pine head and bottom board.  He sports glass eyes and is painted with acrylic & oils.  He is from my personal hunting rig, hence the dings in his head and bill.  This bird is carved and painted in a basic style which I prefer in my hunting decoys, with the exception of some feather detail painted in on the tail & rump and the combed side pockets that were dry brushed to give a little more detail.  This is a true working decoy and measures 13" L x 6" W x 6 1/2" H.

Him on the right and one of his brothers pictured in the photo on the left, working over a section of river where I see and take many hoodies like the one pictured right.  Proof that my decoys actually bring them in and I can actually hit them!  A young drake but nice nonetheless.
