The Haida, Tlingit and Nootka are just a few of the Natives of the Northwestern Coast who used designs similar to this to adorn their clothing, houses, boats and many other items in their cultures.  This salmon is my own design, painted on a paddle to bring good luck from the fishing gods.  So far, according to its owner, it has worked well.
