Copy Cat

This is the first of many "Gray Ghost" variations I cam up with for a loyal client of mine. He wanted something more similar in apperance to a smelt than Carries version so this, along with a dozen others, were all concepts I came up with for him. After viewing them all he decided he couldnt decided so he took a dozen of each in various sizes. The "Gray Ghost" is almost always the first fly I try when fishing but I think these variations work just as well and sometimes better since I tried to get them to look more like the actual smelt, Osmerus Mordax.
