One night I was up late trying to come up with some type of hi-vis fly as the W.B. had been tough fishing for two straight years due to drought conditions. The colors fish key in on more than any others are white, black and yellow so I had out an array of materials in those colors. At the same time I was zoning out on the T.V. which happened to be playing an old black and white movie. An idea sparked and within a few minutes I had the pattern and the name. The next day I caught a few salmon in the sixteen inch range on it during 90 plus degree weather.
